QB decision looms

The Browns paid a steep price to get Brady Quinn. To keep Derek Anderson on board, they can forget about any basement bargains. Anderson, a third-year pro, is eligible to become a restricted free agent in March. Given the dearth of quality quarterbacks, he has the look of a hot commodity. "We'd definitely like to have him back," Browns GM Phil Savage says, "and maybe keep him beyond next year."

Re: QB decision looms

I say keep Anderson, and trade Quinn away. He already has a great on field relationship with his receivers. It would be a step backwards to insert Quinn next year. Package Quinn to get a high draft pick, and get a quality RB. Lewis is not young, and could hit a wall any time now.

Yep, Anderson gets my vote as well. They should deal Quinn, preferably for draft picks. This team's close to being really, really good.

Re: QB decision looms

How high of a pick would it take to get McFadden, and would Quinn be enough to get him. I would love to see him on this team.

Hmm, that would be mighty interesting. I haven't seen draft projections yet, but I imagine McFadden would be a top-five pick at least.

Hell no Quinn is not going to be enough. Quinn would have been a 2nd round pick if Cleveland wouldn't of moved up to take him. As I said before Cleveland is in the same spot that San Diego was in 2 years ago with Brees and Rivers, and Cleveland is going to have to make a choice and it's not going to be easy.

They have a lot of money in Quinn, and Anderson is going to want his payday as well. If you trade Quinn you are not going to get much back in return imo. The Browns are going to look stupid for moving up to take him in the first place when they had a starting QB all along and didn't know it. I agree that the Browns have to keep Anderson, and if the Browns do trade Quinn, they should trade him to a team where he has a chance to start and base his performance on the draft picks returned to Cleveland because I'm telling you. You are not going to go to any team and say give me your #1 for Quinn, it's not going to happen.

Ain't gonna happen...you don't throw away a pick like Quinn without ever using him...I like Anderson, but I would never give up on Quinn without finding out what he has in him...kinda like having the 49ers get rid of Steve Young cause they had Montana....in the end, Montana hit the road, and they kept the younger guy

Re: QB decision looms

The question about Anderson is, is there a team that's going to be willing to give up a #1 and a 3rd round draft pick for him. I say yes, in a draft that is not looking like there is going to be a lot of talent in it. I think some team will step up and give up a 1st and 3rd round pick and take Anderson from Cleveland.

They might, but who...no team will do that, unless the QB is the last piece of their puzzle.

Re: QB decision looms

No doubt big question for everyone is what can Quinn really do? Will he be a big bust or will he be another Steve Young? Should Cleveland give him up, but what if Anderson stumbles next year? And the team that might get him. How much do they give up for a question mark. This could be interesting.

Quinn was looking good in pre-season...I still believe in the man.

Yes, I remember that. You thought Dallas should have picked him. I am going to remind you of that as time goes on and Romo proves to be "the guy"

Besides, as someone reminded me on here, its easy to look good in preseason. Quinn could be a major bust.

Re: QB decision looms

In keeping with the Young/Montana thinking, do you think the 49ers would have gotten rid of Montana in his prime? That is what the Browns have right now. Anderson is not an aging veteran like Montana was. He is only 24 yrs old.
