The Pro Football Hall of Fame has issued an apology and offered compensation to those who attended the Cleveland Browns meet and greet June 20.
Hall of Fame President and Executive Director Stephen A. Perry said in a release that organizers did not expect the size of the crowd for the event that featured Browns rookies Brady Quinn, Joe Thomas and the rest of the 2007 draft class.
“While we planned for a larger-than-normal attendance, we did not anticipate the sizable response of enthusiastic fans who came to see the newest members of the Browns,” Perry said. “As a consequence, the event became disorganized, and some attendees did not get to meet and greet the rookies they had come to see.”
The event was especially crowded around Quinn. Visitors complained that there was no line and no way to assure themselves an opportunity to meet the rookie quarterback during his 90-minute appearance.
