Browns Draft OT Joe Thomas

With the third pick in the 2007 draft, the Browns selected offensive tackle Joe Thomas from the University of Wisconsin. ESPN showed Thomas before being picked on a boat with his father ready to set sail...that's hilarious to me for some reason.

They passed on Brady Quinn and chose to go with the possibly safer pick. The top offensive tackle in the draft will be protecting whomever the Browns have behind center.

Did they make the wrong move? Or was the pass on Quinn for Thomas great?

No, I like this pick. Too early to give up on Charlie Frye, and they need the big LT to open up holes for Lewis. Nice selection.

See, I say the heck with Frye if you could have lended Quinn...its like who won't do away with their Ford Focus if they could trade up to a Mercedes?

QB should always be the last piece a rebuilding team goes after. I like helping out the offensive line and trying to help out your big free-agent signee at running back. Savage never really seemed sold on Quinn. He would've been the popular pick, but even the Browns fans I've spoken too think that Thomas was the right one.

See, that depends who is on the board...you ain't winning without one...so if one does pop up and it's your turn...you gotta tack the skill player...let me know next time the Browns make the Super Bowl...bet Quinn will make it before the Browns do...

If they took Quinn, who would protect the guy? Now they have a franchise tackle and possibly could look at taking a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

They could be in a slot to take that Stanford kid Edwards in round #2... that kind of draft would make a lot of Browns fans very happy.

They're looking to trade up and still get Quinn. That'd be one hell of a draft if they can pull it off. It'd probably cost them a future first round pick but they have to pull the trigger if they can.
