2007 Cleveland Browns Draft Preview

CLEVELAND -- Like the Dolphins, the Browns are a team with a draft status that will be impacted by what it chooses to do at the quarterback position in the coming weeks.

Conventional wisdom suggests that Cleveland will add a veteran QB such as Trent Green prior to the draft, given the fact that head coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Phil Savage can't afford to wait around for a rookie QB to find his footing.

If a veteran QB is acquired, the Browns would be foolish not to select Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson with the third overall selection.

Seems like they think the pick should be Quinn or Peterson, depending on circumstances.

If the Browns would do the smart thing and sign David Carr, then they wouldn't have to draft a quarterback.

It's fun to debate whether the Browns should make a run at David Carr.

Up front, we hear they have virtually no interest in the No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 draft.

Kinda shades the debate, but ... are they making a mistake?

One NFL man with strong knowledge of Carr tells us he's still sold on the 27-year-old QB.

"He's going to make it," the source said. "He reminds me of Steve Young, both in the way the early part of his career has gone and the kind of talent he has to break through.

I agree... I'd like to see them ink Carr and even give him a shot to battle Frye for the starting position. Then draft Peterson or Johnson.

Hasn't Carr suffered enough?...not that Brylon and the possiblity of Peterson is not enticing...some...

Browns eyeing Fab Five with No. 3 pick

The Fab Five consists of quarterbacks JaMarcus Russell of LSU and Brady Quinn of Notre Dame, wide receiver Calvin Johnson of Georgia Tech, offensive tackle Joe Thomas of Wisconsin and running back Adrian Peterson of Oklahoma. All are considered can't-miss prospects by draft gurus, scouts and front-office types.

I would have agreed with you if it wasn't for last year's draft. They may get their pick of the top 5.
