Fascinating interview with Browns owner Al Lerner. He says he thinks the team needs 35 high-quality players to be competitive, and then goes on to list 21 guys at most who he says fits that category, and four of those guys -- Leon Williams, Travis Wilson, Jerome Harrison, Lawrence Vickers -- he says are emerging guys who "could be core players." So is Cleveland really still that far away from being a competitive team?

They are the main team I get to watch around here. I think they are that far away. I have seen nothing in their team that has given anybody hope that they are on the right track. They have too much turnover in coaches. Every other year they are changing their system. Some players can play in one scheme and not the other. They really need to commit to one coach or one style and let it run its course. It really says something about a team when they have high draft choices 3 years running and are not improving.
