Browns hire Bob Kain as vice chairman to oversee team business

CLEVELAND - Recently retired sports and entertainment management executive Bob Kain is joining the Cleveland Browns as vice chairman, the NFL team said Tuesday.

Kain was chief executive officer of IMG, a New York-based sports, entertainment and media company, until he retired last fall. IMG, founded in Cleveland, was acquired by Forstmann Little & Co. in 2004.

Kain will advise the Browns in all facets of the team's business, including sales, corporate sponsorship, marketing and communications.

"My professional relationship with Bob has evolved over the last several years, and he has been a valuable resource to me and our organization," Browns owner Randy Lerner said.

Kain's job? Make the Browns interesting to the general populace again, and make the ownership lots of money in the process.

What they need is to hire somebody to evaluate talent. I am tired of seeing them waste draft picks on busts. (Does anybody remember Mike Junkin)
