Browns agree to deal with center Fraley

CLEVELAND - Shortly before trying to entice other free agents, the Cleveland Browns took care of one of their own - center Hank Fraley.

They reached preliminary agreement on a four-year contract with Fraley, who rescued the Browns last season after they lost LeCharles Bentley to a career-threatening knee injury.

Financial terms were not immediately available late Thursday from agent Ralph Cindrich.

Fraley provided stability last season, starting all 16 games after being acquired from Philadelphia for a 2008 draft pick. Before Fraley's arrival, the Browns went through five centers trying to fill Bentley's spot.

Good. This was a move they HAD to make, with Bentley expected to miss the entire season.

Excellent way to kick off free agency. Fraley provides stability along the line and is one of the best backup options in the NFL.

The reports I am hearing around here is that Bentley may be done for good. He just had his 4th surgery, I think, to repair the damage to his knee.

On a side note, I just noticed your avatar. Is that the helmut for the Mount Union purple raiders. They are the college from my home town. I used to live just off campus. I got to watch all the games for free when I was younger. I used to go to the fence across the street and look through.
