Kellen Winslow surgery

Browns TE Kellen Winslow recently underwent another knee surgery, the Associated Press is reporting today. According to the report, "The Browns' talented tight end underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee last month, a more extensive procedure than was initially revealed and one that will require a longer recovery... Microfracture surgery involves drilling holes into bone in the knee to promote blood flow and form scar tissue, which replaces any damaged cartilage. Typically, patients need four months of rehab following the procedure."

Re: Kellen Winslow surgery

This came as a complete surprise. There was never any mention of this until it was done. This team can't catch a break.

Re: Kellen Winslow surgery

Winslow made it clear that something was wrong with his knee, and continually said that he was playing on one knee; however, Winslow said he figured it would just be a knee scope, though. I would have never expected it to need microfracture surgery. Have to give KWII credit, playing the last month or so without cartilage in his right knee. The kid is scary good, even with only one knee.

Re: Kellen Winslow surgery

Well, I don't know if anyone else here had heard the rumors about Winslow missing the entire 2007 season due to his surgery, but apparently Cleveland GM Phil Savage is dismissing the rumors. According to what Savage told the Times Reporter, "There’s never been any talk about (Winslow missing 2007) that I’m aware of... We’ve never even given a second thought he wouldn’t be back with us for this next season."

Cool Re: Kellen Winslow surgery

Wow. Winslow is never going to be what he should have been. And it could have all been avoided had he made a better decision in his life.
