Cleveland Browns Sign Bentley, Jurevicius

Man, talk about a team making an impact early -- The Cleveland Browns have signed C LeCharles Bentley and WR Joe Jurevicius!

From the Associated Press write-up:

Quote:
Bentley, who played the past four seasons for New Orleans, brings toughness, size and experience to the Browns' offensive line, which has been both inept and ignored by the team in recent years.

His six-year deal is reportedly worth $36 million and includes $12.5 million in guarantees.

Jurevicius, who got a four-year deal, has played in three Super Bowls, including last season's for the Seattle Seahawks. The 31-year-old gives the Browns a dependable receiver to complement Braylon Edwards.
Two huge, huge signings for a team that suddenly looks to be on the rise. Reuben Droughns at RB, Edwards and Jurevicius at WR, Bentley as the first piece towards fixing up that O-line, and likely Willie McGinest on the way to help out the D.

How about it, Browns fans? How do you like your team's chances now?

Re: Cleveland Browns Sign Bentley,

I'm not a Browns' fan exactly, but I do cheer for them here and there and I have to say, they're taking great strides to build a team. That offense should be better this year and they might push a 9-win season.

Considering the Browns played the Steelers twice, the Bengals twice, the Colts, Bears, Vikings and Jacksonville during the 2005 season, a 6-10 record is pretty good.

The 2006 season looks bright for the Browns, considering that Pittsburgh is losing key players. But, I still don't see the Browns making the playoffs, unless they overhaul that roster a little more.

Re: Cleveland Browns Sign Bentley,

Who else do you think they should add? Definitely some defensive help, right?

Definitely. Not sure where to start there. They seemed to be only a few players away. I would have to say secondary.

Cool Re: Cleveland Browns Sign Bentley, Jurevicius

If they stay healthy the offense will be good. But they need defensive help in the worst way, and Crennel is a defensive coach to boot. I'd be shocked if the Browns didn't take a player for the front 7 with their first pick. And they'll probably go D with their 2nd pick as well.
