Browns could be tolerable next year
NFL teams that are El Stinko one year are likely enough to be lousy the next.
The Lions went from 5-11 in 2005 to 3-13 in ’06. The Raiders went from 4-12 to 2-14. The Cardinals repeated a 5-11 year. Your Cleveland Browns skidded from 6-10 to 4-12.

Losers who made strides — but joined Cleveland on the postseason sideline — included the Texans (2-14 to 6-10), 49ers (4-12 to 7-9), Bills (5-11 to 7-9), Packers ( 4-12 to 8-8 ) and Titans ( 4-12 to 8-8 ).

The latter group represents the kind of progress the Browns should avoid selling to their fans. There have been too many years of lakefront losing, and there are too many examples of dramatic turnarounds, to make preaching patience more palatable than slop.

Oh?...I thought it was because thier city wasn't destroyed, they built no character....didn't get a great free agent QB...and the team in front of them in the draft made a bonehead move...I mean, the division...yeah, okay...

Well, the obvious Katrina factor aside... they still COULD get a free agent QB, the team in from of them in the draft could still make a boneheaded move, and they're a team with a losing record looking to turn things around. Basically, the question is: can they be the team that goes from a horrible losing record to a surprising winning one, and with some of the players they're due to get back off the IR, I say there's a shot.
