Browns Reek of Defeat

The stench of a rotten football team lingers in the air at Cleveland Browns headquarters in Berea, Ohio. The Browns are 4-10 after a 27-17 road loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The team failed to win a game in it's own division for the first time in club history. Since head coach Romeo Crennel took over in 2005 the Browns are a stunning 1-11 against AFC North foes. As a matter of fact the Browns are a mere 10-20 under Crennel in his tenure as head coach, clearly showing this team has not come very far and has miles to go to get better.

The defense that Crennel brought with him, the 3-4, has been horrendous. The philosophy of bend, but don't break didn't work in 2000 when he was Chris Palmer's defensive coordinator and it isn't working now. The Browns play a lot of zone defense and don't blitz a lot to prevent big plays, Sunday they were burned for a 52-yard Jamal Lewis run and a 77-yard TD pass on 3rd and 11 to rookie WR Demetrius Williams from backup QB Kyle Boller. As Dr. Phil would say, "How's that working for ya?!". For the Browns it isn't and hasn't worked all year.

I don't think they do. They seem to have talent and had a tough schedule lthis year. I'd give 'em another year to see how it goes.

By the way, Does anybody have any opinion on who will win this game - or at least cover: The line is:

About the article, no. The Browns have not been "this" team for long at all. Romeo pretty much did his tearing down last year, and this year was the first step toward the actual "building" of the team.

Anyone who truly believes Crennel should be fired right now needs to up their Zyprexa pronto. This team has seen enough turnaround in the past 7 years, and any more of it just means starting at square one....yet again.

Keep Crennel around for at LEAST another year to see where his vision of this team is going.

i think Crennel needs atleast 2 more years........of course im biased being a die-hard Pats fan, he must be a genius

i was just looking at the Browns schedule and man was it brutal this year

their biggest problem seems to be the offense......in 14 games this season they only scored over 20 points 3 times, that just isnt going to get it done....especially playing Cincy and Baltimore twice a year, those two teams will score almost no matter who they play so you need an offense that can also put up big numbers

I agree with you TopDawg...gotta keep Romeo around for at least another year. Give the guy a break, he has to deal with countless injuries to some of his star players. And perhaps next year he'll finally bring in a real QB to lead the team.

I like Romeo so I hope all turns out well.

I think that young QB Charlie something or other is gonna be good actually. He'll have a good hook up when Edwards comes back full blast. Throw in a nice high draft pick for defensive purposes along with the rest of a good draft and some free agent pick ups while cutting the unproductive ones and the Browns might be good sooner than you think.

Here is a side note on Charlie Fyre...he has small hands by NFL standards...though Vick has shorter...What does that mean?...who knows, I doubt he will get his job back from Derek Anderson.

Derek Anderson is doing that well? I thought Frye was a high draft pick and he certainly showed flashes of talent during the season. Maybe he needs a big of time like JP Losman seemed to have needed. Look at Losman now settling in. Patience is a virture for QBs.
