Clemson Tigers practice report

The Tigers held a three-hour practice yesterday. Tommy Bowden's definitely working these guys hard, trying to get them into shape. The coach had good things to say about DT Rashaad Jackson, a redshirt junior who is down 15 pounds from last season's playing weight of 290 and has reportedly become a real leader on the gridiron. He's been a second-team player the past couple of years, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him really carry a lot of the load defensively in 2007.

Re: Clemson Tigers practice report

Tommy Bowden had some good things to say about some of his freshmen after Monday's practices: "Scotty Cooper had a good day at linebacker. He looks good in the drill work so far. He has the ability to hit and disengage the blocker... Brandon Clear looked good at wide receiver, he really jumped out at me on offense. He is faster than we thought and has the size and range. If he continues to play that well we will find a place for him. I was also impressed with Marcus Gilchrist and Jarvis Jenkins today."

He also singled out returning defensive personnel Sadat Chambers and Ray Ray McElrathbey for their performances.
