Music City Bowl: Clemson vs. Kentucky

Clemson, SC - Clemson and Kentucky will meet in the 2006 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl Presented by Bridgestone Tires on Friday, December 29 at 1:00 Pm (eastern). The contest will be televised by ESPN. This will be Clemson's first appearance in the Music City Bowl and it will be the second appearance for Kentucky.

This will be the second meeting between Clemson and Kentucky in a bowl game. The only previous meeting took place in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta in 1993. Clemson won that thrilling contest by a 14-13 score on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Sapp to Terry Smith with just 20 seconds remaining. Brentson Buckner, playing in his last game, was named defensive player of the game.

Clemson was a darn good offensive team this year, if I remember correctly. Does Kentucky have a chance in this one?

Re: Music City Bowl: Clemson vs. Kentucky

This game is a very intriguing match-up, because you want to immediately throw Clemson in as the winner because of the success we remember them having early on, but to quote Lee Corso, "not so fast..." This is a Kentucky team that has been able to throw all over this year, QB Andre Woodson putting up 3,218 yards and 28 TD's in fact. I think they will be able to score in this game. And, after the Ga Tech game, we found out that to stop Clemson, just stop the run and let Will Proctor try and win it. I think Clemson wins this game, but I think its closer than you would immediately think:

Clemson 31 Kentucky 27

Beautiful day in Nashville for the Music City bowl. Sunny & in the 60's. But not a beautiful ball game.

Kentucky leads 14-6 at the half.

Clemson's offense just hasn't shown up and they missed their extra point attempt. Several turnovers on both sides. KY missed a field goal at the end of the 1st half.

Re: Music City Bowl: Clemson vs. Kentucky

Wildcats pull it out, 28-20, but they nearly blew a 22 point lead in the fourth quarter. UK's Andre' Woodson threw for 300 yards and 3 scores, but it was Clemson QB Will Proctor, who tossed two of his three scoring strikes in the final frame, that nearly brough the Tigers back to win. It was, by the way, the highest scoring performance in Kentucky history, and their first bowl win since 1984.

Re: Music City Bowl: Clemson vs. Kentucky

The last touchdown was a result of KY playing prevent defense.

Is Tommy starting to get on the hot seat?
