The Cincinnati Reds have quietly acquired veteran reliever Eddie Guardado from Seattle for minor-league right-hander Travis Chick. According to Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky, Guardado will replace Todd Coffey as the Cincy closer.
Of course, that's good news to the Reds, but it also impacts fantasy baseball owners, says Eric Hinz over at
FakeTeams :: Coffey Break. Hinz says "The cost of a closer in a trade is typically a top starting pitcher or hitter... Now you can get a closer without giving up that level of player. It is a no-brainer, really." Sounds like good advice to me.
The question is, can Guardado deliver for the Reds (and fantasy owners everywhere)?
