The Cincinnati Reds have released 1B Scott Hatteberg.

According to the Associated Press, "Hatteberg was without playing time due to the emergence of young slugger Joey Votto, who leads the team in hitting at .287 and ranks third in home runs (10) and RBI (31)... Hatteberg slumped, batting .173 with seven RBI in 52 at-bats over 34 games." So it sounds like dumping him was a good move, eh?

I think it was a bad idea. They don't need another left hand 1B, but they could have used the vet bat off the bench until the trade deadline and gotten something for him. He is still a pretty good hitter.
