Reds manager Dusty Baker is credited in some circles with being the first player to use the "high five" in baseball, in 1977. "That's what they say," Baker said. "I don't give myself credit for it. Glenn Burke gave it to me, and I gave it back to him. So Glenn started it. "Magic (Johnson) told me one day it was him. I said, 'Magic, you must have been about 8.' " Baker prefers the "fist" now. "I tell you one thing: Whoever invented the fist, that's the best," he said. "To me, that's the most sanitary way to shake hands. I use the fist in crowds. That's ingenious, because if you're going to catch something off the back of your hand, you're supposed to catch it anyway."
