Reds the 2008 suprise team Fox sports is claiming that the Reds are one of the teams that could "make some noise" in the 2008 season.Do you think this reporter is correct? Have they improved enough? FOX Sports on MSN - MLB - These teams could make noise

Re: Reds the 2008 suprise team I'm hoping Bailey can step his game up to and become as consistent in the bigs as he was in the minors. He showed flashes in a couple of starts last year but overall maybe he wasn't quite ready yet.

Re: Reds the 2008 suprise team There should be a couple of interesting position battles in center and 1st base with Bruce and Votto vying to crack the starting lineup. I'm anxious to see what Bruce can bring to the table.

Re: Reds the 2008 suprise team In my opinion, Votto snagged the 1B positon last season. They will probably keep Hatteberg around for relief spells and a bat off the bench...at least until they can make a trade for him. CF is Jay Bruce's to lose. They all but announced that the position was his when they traded a fan favorite to make room for him. If he has a decent spring, he will start. If not, get ready for more Freel until he gets hurt again.

Re: Reds the 2008 suprise team If Bruce does beat out Freel and Hopper the great debate seems to be who will bat lead off. Gonzo, Phillips? I think Votto will end up as the starter at 1st, yet I'd like to see Hatteberg stick around not only for his bat off the bench but he is a good club house influence.
