The Reds and Affeldt have agreed to a reported one year $3 million contract...pending a physical. He has been used mainly as a reliever, but there is talk that he could compete for a spot in the rotation.

I feel this is a good signing for them. If he doesn't get in the rotation, he will make the bullpen even better. They could go from one of the worst last year to one of the best. Not the Nasty Boys, but pretty good.

Good signing. The guy is a solid arm in the pen. I don't know about trying him in the rotation though.

That was my thought too, but they said he began as a starter and wanted to try him out there again. I say just bolster the pen. You can never have enough arms.

It was just made official. He passed his physical. He is now a member of the Reds.
