Very sad news from the Reds. One of their beloved announcers passed away today at age 79. He has been with the Reds for over 60 years as a player and announcer. He was the youngest player to make it to the big leagues at age 15.
I remember sitting in my room listening to the 1990 broadcast when the Reds won the world series. He was part of what I think is the best announcing team in broadcasting with Marty Brenneman. I am thankful that I got to listen to him call a few games this season as they were slowing taking him away from the booth.
Here's to the "Ol' lefthander rounding third and heading for home" one last time.
