Griffey Knee Injury

Reds OF Ken Griffey Jr. left yesterday's game against the Cubs with "stiffness in the back of his right knee" according to AP reports. I didn't see it, but I hear he tweaked the knee during an at-bat. Supposedly, it isn't anything serious, but I'm sure Cincy baseball fans are holding their collective breath. It's been six straight seasons with injury trouble for Junior. It'd be nice to see him stay healthy for most of this season, wouldn't it?

Re: Griffey Knee Injury

Well, Junior's back on the DL. Apparently, a magnetic resonance imaging test found fluid in the inflamed tendon in his right knee, but its being listed as a precautionary move. The AP reports that the injury "doesn't appear to be as serious as the ones that sent him to the disabled list seven times from 2001-04." which at least gives Reds fans some kind of silver lining here.

Re: Griffey Knee Injury

The Dream has finally died. I thought for a moment that Griffey Jr. might be once again the player that he was in Seattle but oh well. Here is the link. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BBN_REDS_GRIFFEY_DL?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE= DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-04-18-05-16-07

Now all we have is ARod, Jeter, and Pujols
