On Tuesday, Reds IF Juan Castro will undergo reconstructive elbow surgery. According to the Associated Press, "Castro has a partially torn ligament in his right elbow... Medical tests last month detected Castro's partially torn ligament. He agreed to postpone a decision on surgery while the team was short-handed at shortstop last month, making himself available to play in an emergency." He should be back by spring training.

while this is very unfortunate for Castro, it does not hurt the Reds at all. They knew he had a sore arm when they brought him back up. He was just for an emergency. They should be looking at younger guys anyway.;
