| Ken Griffey Jr. home run chase Ken Griffey Jr. of the Cincinnati Reds just keeps moving up on the home run list. Last night, he hit his 569th career homer in a 9-5 win over Houston. The dinger ties Junior with Rafael Palmeiro for 9th place on the career list. He's now just four behind 8th place Harmon Killebrew as well. How soon until he passes Killebrew?

Now, just 600? I want 700 but I know he'll settle for about 630 with his injuries. |

| Re: Ken Griffey Jr. home run chase Another big game by Griffey last night, albiet tainted by a Reds loss. According to the Associated Press, "Ken Griffey Jr. tied Harmon Killebrew on the home run list with his second in two games, but couldn't lead the Reds to their first back-to-back wins of the month. Griffey's two-run shot off left-hander Matt Chico matched Killebrew at eighth on the list with 573 homers, trailing Mark McGwire by 10... He also leapfrogged Ernie Banks into 19th place on the career RBI list. Griffey has driven in 1,637 runs. Next on the list is former Reds first baseman Tony Perez at 1,652." |

| Re: Ken Griffey Jr. home run chase Griffey hit #582 yesterday, putting him one behind Mark McGwire for 7th place all-time. He also drove in his 500th RBI as a Cincinnati Red, and more importantly to Junior it seems, helped his team to a 5-2 win over Oakland. "You can have some great milestones and not win a championship, and that is every kid's goal and my goal," Griffey told reporters after the game. "We won. That's the most important thing. I just do what I can. Some days are better than others. It's about continuing to do the little things and eventually you'll get one up and out." |

| Re: Ken Griffey Jr. home run chase Crazy how good Griffey is when healthy. 21 home runs already. Not bad for an oft-injured 37 year old. He definitely has a shot at getting 600 this season. At the beginning of the year I didn't think so, but as long as he stays healthy, he's got a very good chance. |
