Edwin Encarnacion demoted

I just saw that Encarnacion was sent to Louisville. They called up Jeff Keppinger to replace him on the roster. Freel is the likely option to take over 3B since Hamilton has been getting most of the starts in the OF.

So far this season he has a .218 AVG with a .287 SLG. Those numbers will not keep him in the bigs. He should not have been suprised.

Which of them do you think is better?

I like Keppinger, but Encarnacion (I like Juan) was a decent player.

Keppinger is a nice utility player but tough news for Reds fans. Isn't Encarnacion suppose to be one of the top position prospects in their system?

He wasn't supposed to be a prospect any longer. He came up in 2005 and showed promise. Last year he was good on offense but had way too many errors. They wanted him to work on his defense. This year they both were awful. Maybe he was working too much on defense and lost his timing with the bat.

The next position prospect to come up should be Joey Votto. He is just an injury away from taking the starting 1B job.

Do you think that the Reds will be one of the top teams of the future?

Not with their current bullpen. They need to get rid of everybody but Weathers.

Their offense will be better in the next couple years when some of the younger players come up, Votto, Bruce, Stubbs.

I do think their rotation will be one of the best in baseball. They already have Harang and Arroyo signed. Not everybody is high on him, but I really like Belisle. He should be good for years to come. Later this year,or next season for sure, Homer Bailey will come up. Livingston is also ready for the majors IMO. He gets his shot on Sunday filling in for the deadarm Milton.

None of this will help as long as Narron is still the manager

Re: Edwin Encarnacion demoted

Edwin got the call to come back up to the majors. It came with some bad news. He is taking the spot of Josh Hamilton who was put on the DL with a stomach infection. From what they were reporting, Encarnacion has earned the callup. He has been hitting the ball very well since he was sent down to Louisville.

I hope he can find his stroke again. He is a vital part of this offense.
