Benny Santiago? Not an official pick, just a suggestion.

Re: A Game Even the Reds Can Win - Fantasy Draft

Benito Santiago it is, and that is our team.

Outfield:
Dave Parker
Eric Davis
Kevin Mitchell
Dave Collins

1B: Sean Casey
2B: Brett Boone
SS: Barry Larkin
3B: Chris Sabo
C: Benito Santiago
SP: Mario Soto

Bullpen:
John Franco
Norm Charlton
Rob Dibble

This is the best team we could come up with from all the players that have played for the reds for more than the past quarter of a century. Do you think it's even good enough to compete for a pennant in 06'?

Cool Re: A Game Even the Reds Can Win - Fantasy Draft

How about: Paul O' Neil instead of Dave Collins, Mariano Duncan @ 2b,

Danny Jackson (didn't he win Cy Young?) & Jack Armstrong in the rotation.

Hey now...leave my Collins alone...And Jackson didn't, but he had won 23 games in 1988...Duncan was okay...but a Tom Browing is a better candidate Jack Armstrong...

Re: A Game Even the Reds Can Win - Fantasy Draft

Agreed. Brett Boone was my pick. Mariano Duncan had a good year on the 90' world Series team but I felt, judging only the years played for the Reds, that Boone contributed more.
And I chose the last out fielder I believe, I took Kevin Mitchell. In hindsight it was a bad pick. Mitchell's big year with all the home runs just stuck in my mind for some reason.
As for starting pitcher, I think I would have gone with Tom Browning. Again, the perfect game sticks in my head, and he was with the Reds for so many years. Danny Jackson did have a 20+ win season, but I even thought about Pete Harnish, and Jose "blame it on" Rijo.
Can't go wrong with Mario Soto though, good pick.

Who Dey: I have to defer to you. You're the Reds maven. I very humbly stand corrected.

Re: A Game Even the Reds Can Win - Fantasy Draft

Don't forget Randy Myers...his 1990 season was a dandy. And did I miss something or is there a reason no one included GRIFFEY JR. amongst the outfielders? He's no Dave Collins but....

Who Dey has this thing about Kenny, so I avoided the issue...and brought up that old speedstar Dave Collins...naturally Kenny is better...but it was Who Dey's game...

Re: A Game Even the Reds Can Win - Fantasy Draft

Kevin Mitchell hit 46 HR's in 99', he was the last outfielder chosen, and he was my pick. So please, everyone, stop harping on Dave Collins cause' I chose Mitchell Last. What has Griffey's highest total been in Cincinnati? I honestly don't know, but I doubt it was 46.
Regardless, they both would have been bad picks. I should have chosen Paul O'Niel.
