Reds closer Eddie Guardado has a torn ligament in his left elbow, an MRI showed today. He has been transferred to the 60-day DL and according to published reports, Guardado will undergo ligament-replacement surgery. He will most likely be out at least a year. Will the 35-year-old hurler be able to come back from this injury, or is his career pretty much in the books?

Who is the closer?...this team is still in the hunt for a wild card right?...that must suck...they got him this year for the role and now he is out.

I'd assume Paul Coffey returns to the closers role. Boy, between the injuries Majewski and Guardado have had since being acquired, perhaps their GM should do more of his homework before trading.
