Chad Johnson Rule

So what is up with the new NFL rule that limits celebration? Can somebody point me to the details about the Chad Johnson rule?

What do you guys think about this?

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

Well, I don't know the specifics, but basically no solo celebrations are allowed on the field at all, right? Not even #85's classic Riverdance. They all result in a 15-yard penalty.

Personally, I hate the rule. Yes, I know the old Lombardi quote about acting like you've been there before, and some of the recent celebrations (diapering a baby, cell phone, stuff like that) have been over the top. But now we can't have anything like the dirty bird, the Icky shuffle, stuff like that.

Why the NFL wants to be such a cookie-cutter league with their no celebrations rules, strict dress code and numbering system and what not, I have no idea. Sports are about emotion, and pro football is just getting to be way to business like for my tastes.

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

Lets jsut take the fun out of football...even Soccer players celebrate in grand fashion...

It should be up to the Ref...if the whole victory dance looks bad...flag 'em...if its reasonably good...look the other way...if its the home team...but away the flag...

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

The fans love it, the players love it--why can't the league officials love it?

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

Even if he wiggles his body a little, they will call a penalty.

Give us some slack here and just watch the game.

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

Johnson, apparently with no motivation, has stopped scoring touchdowns.

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

I don't know what's up with the Bengals but they seem like a very undisciplined team. And from a Marvin Lewis coached team, that's surprising.

Chad Johnson needs to start playing like we all know the WR he is...one of the best in the league.

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

I think some people are a little confused. The player himself is allowed to celebrate. HOWEVER, it must not involve a prop. chad johnson is allowed to jump up and down...do a little dance. but he cant go propose to a bengal cheerleader nor can he wipe the butt of the football....in other words he can't have that much fun.

I think that the team is getting all mixed up in the legal problems that the Bengals players are finding themselves in. get over it and move on...we are a very good team!!!

Re: Chad Johnson Rule

Lets see how it works out this season!

Chad Johnson fantasy owners need to see some major improvement or else he might be considered the biggest bust of the NFL season. The NFL has some nerve to destroy a players' enjoyment for no reason whatsoever.
