Bengals don't want to deal Chad Johnson?

Since last season, when the grumblings about Chad Johnson's future first began, the Bengals have been adamant about refusing to trade the receiver who set the franchise record this season for receiving yardage. However, a showdown is looming in Cincinnati, where few of the Bengals are happy with the way this past season went and some, including Johnson, could opt to seek their exit. For starters, Johnson and Palmer did not connect the way they did in other seasons. Also, the Bengals are expected to try to retain Pro Bowl wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who has one year remaining on his contract. Should the two sides come to the agreement that many expect, it could send Johnson back to the bargaining table to rework a six-year, $35.5 million contract extension he signed in April 2006. However it plays out, sources close to the situation insist that the Bengals have not heard the last from Johnson this off-season. The story is just beginning.-- NFL Network

Two prominent receivers expected to seek trades

Re: Bengals don't want to deal Chad Johnson?

It'll be an interesting story to follow, and a good argument could be made either way. On the one hand, he is most likely the best wide receiver in the history of the franchise, and still has game changing ability. On the other hand, he commands a high price, his attitude sometimes is wanting, and the Bengals may be looking to start a youth movement. Either way, not everyone's going to be happy in Cincy.

I say let him go. He is not even the best receiver on the team anymore.

Cool Re: Bengals don't want to deal Chad Johnson?

I wouldn't want him on my team. The Bengals can be losing by 40 pts in a game and have a losing record, and if he scores a TD, he obnoxiously celebrates.

They should let him go. They can use his salary money to try to improve the defensive side of the ball.

He's yours. But you better get him a QB or he's going to lead a mutiny on the sidelines.
