The Bengals have locked up star WR Chad Johnson through 2001.

According to the AP, "The three-time Pro Bowl receiver had been under contract through 2009. The new deal could pay him an average of $10.75 million per year in bonuses and salary, far more than his previous contract." A big deal, but over the past few seasons, this guy's proved he can be a big-time playmaker.

Cincy has a lot of promise, and I don't blame them for locking up some of their core guys.

I agree. I believe they also locked up QB Carson Palmer a few months ago. They seem to set for future years.

I like Chad...he gets a bit of a bad rap as a junior TO wannabe...but he is talented, and in the right offense...and I'd rather give him $10 mil thanbe the Seahawks and spend $49 over 7 years on Nate Burleson...right???..right?

In a heartbeat. I would hope most people by now realize that Chad is 10-times the team player T.O. is, and that the only possible comparison between the two is that both know how to find the end zone and both like putting on a theatrical performance once they get there.
