Re: Bengals add veteran backup QB

So Anthony Wright is a Bengal, eh? According to the story, "In nine games in 2005 for the Ravens, Wright completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 1,582 yards with six touchdowns and nine interceptions." Good insurance in case Carson Palmer's not ready to go, and the kid has shown promise at times, so it doesn't sound like too bad of a signing, does it?

Cool Re: Bengals sign QB Anthony Wright

I have to disagree with you Lefty. I think this is a terrible signing - especially since Palmer's health is in question. Wright might actually have to start a few games next year and I saw him play last year. Very unimpressive. Joey Harrington would have been the way to go. Has anyone signed him yet?

Re: Bengals sign QB Anthony Wright

I don't anyone's inked Harrington yet, but I believe Miami was close. As far as Wright, I know he's not exceptional, but he's good enough. I don't think Cincy wanted to tie up a lot of money in a backup QB. Wright is serviceable and, at times, has shown signs of being halfway decent. Pretty sure that's all they're looking for, or else they would've just resigned Kitna.

Since nobody's knocking down Harrington's door, how much would a team have to pay him? I think with the talent the Cincy has he'd be a perfect fit for them until Palmer was healthy. He'd just have to manage the game - much like Jake Plummer did for the Broncos.
