| Long Hard Look at Bengals Special Teams 1. The leading tackler on special teams, Anthony Mitchell, has been resigned. 2. The Bengals signed return man Antonio Chapman away from the Packers. His 85 yard return against the Bears last season was the longest of the year in the NFL, and his 8.5 yards a return was 10th in the league. This may not sound like groundbreaking stuff, but for a punt return team that finished next to last in the league, he should help. 3. The Bengals are seriously thinking matching the offer sheet by the Texans for Kevin Walter. 1.5 million dollars is a lot of cash four a fourth wide reciever, may even cause the Bengals to say good bye to Kelly Washington. I don't know about you, but Kelly Washington's endzone dance is like the funniest thing I've ever seen, and I want to see him stick around just for that . However, these things do tell me that Marv is taking a serious look at improving Special Teams. Every bit as much as he is trying to improve the defenese. He feels that if the Special Teams were a little better, a little more solid it may put the Bengals over the hump. |

| Re: Long Hard Look at Bengals Special Teams Or, having a healthy Carson Palmer the entire regular season and throughout the playoffs might have been enough. But, there are definitely good moves on Lewis' part. He's shown he knows how to build a team and take the patience to let them grow. He's got a team, now he's tweaking. |
