Josh McCown maybe? With three solid QB's in the draft and the likes of Kitna, Brees, and Culpepper in free agency, this may just be the year to get a solid backup for a reasonable price. The Bengals spoke to the agents for both Josh McCown and Patrick Ramsey yesterday. Apperently both agents for both players informed the front office of the Bengals that their clients were out of the Bengal's league, both in price and in playing time. However, this seems to be the year where there are more QB's than spots. Young Joey Harrington is even rumored to have asked for a trade in the wake of the Kitna signing. Ramsey figured the Jets would have made him an offer by now, but with the Saints taking Brees off the market the Jets could have either Lynert or Cutler, which ever the Titans do not select. Lots of QB's that feel right now they are starters, I think will be singing a different tune in a week or so when they come to realize that no one really wants them for the price they are asking. The only problem this is causing for the Bengals in the rest of the free agency market. The Bengals have made a pact to not do anything in free agency from now on, meaning after the Dexter Jackson siging, until they have the QB sitauation taken care of . The agents for both Grady Jackson and Sam Adams give the hint that they are becoming impaitent, and will not wait forever.

Re: Josh McCown maybe? No sense in starting a new thread I guess. Looking for 1 QB is the same as looking for another at this point I guess. Pat Ramsey is a Jet, and the Bengals still ponder. However, the amount of QB's available for "pondering" over is shrinking quickly. I hope this doesn't mean Doug Johnson will be the opening day starter. Ughh.....

Sure, sounds good to me... The problem w/ that is Harrington is a Lion... I'm sure Detroit is shopping him around, but I don't think the Bengals will be interested... I don't know what Harrington's current deal w/ the Lions is, but I'm pretty sure it's more than the 1 to 1.5 that the Bengals are looking to spend on a reserve QB. In addittion, I'm guessing at this point the Lions are also looking for some other compensation as well, like Draft Picks. |

Re: Josh McCown maybe? well just to continue my Negative Nelly stance... He is probably looking for more $ than the Bengals are looking to pay. However, in this current game of musical QB's, it appears there are more competitors than chairs. I guess one of them will eventualy have to settle for what the Bengals are offering.

Re: Josh McCown maybe? Well, Brian Griese is out.... just signed 5 year deal w/ the Bears.... Man, it's tough to find a QB that is willing to be nothing but a backup under any situation. Apprently money was not even discussed w/ Griese... Griese was told by big Marvin that even if he started the Bengals off 5-1... Marvin would still turn to Carson the second he was healthy and ready to go. Arron Brooks won't even talk to the Bengals becasue of Carson. Next up appears to be Joey Harrington.. Jamie Martin's stock appeared to drop with the Rams signing of Guss Ferote... Whewwww..... At least I know for sure now that Ferotte won't end up back in the natti'. All these guys that think they are "starters" are going to end up somewhere... where they will be given a "chance" to start... All that means is they will start 3 games and get benched for the other guy and then tossed in again and ripped out again over the course of the Season. They will then complain, "well I didn't get a chance to settle into the offense, or gain repor w/ my recievers." If you jump on the Marvin Lewis/Carson Palmer boat, you may not play, but I guarantee you won't lose either.

Re: Josh McCown maybe? Arron Brooks signs in Oakland. On Less player, and one less chair. At the end of the game I think the bengals will be the last chair and their will be more than a couple of guys who all of a sudden really want it.
