Bengals #1 Draft Pick: Who Will It Be?

I figure Cincy's got to go for defense, try and tighten up that unit a little bit.

They pick awful late in the 1st round, so you never know for sure how things are going to fall. But among the players they may be want to consider selecting are: Tamba Hali, DE, Penn State; Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida State; Ashton Youboty, CB, Ohio State; Gabe Watson, DT, Michigan; DeMeco Ryans, OLB, Alabama and Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College.

Bengals fans, who do you want to see the team take with the #24 pick?

I have always liked Kiwankua from BC. His engine never stops, and he may be able to add some speed and power up front.

I think he may drop to #24, how bout everyone else??

Re: Bengals #1 Draft Pick: Who Will It Be?

I know Marv is looking Tight End in the first. Especially the way Shoebel and Stewart appear headed for free agency, and with the depth of this years tight end class.
My guess is it will be a D-day decision, with offers on the table to trade up to get Vernon Davis, I think thats his name.
Anyway with the way the CBA negotiations are going, I'm just glad the Bengals are one of 14 teams that wont have to cut anyone to get under the cap if no deal gets done.
they will probably have 3 to 4 million left even with the 94.5 million hard cap.
Hint: If no deal gets done, and the bengals go out and sign Sam Adams or Lavar Arrington in free agency with the 94.5 million cap then Mavrin went D and they will probably keep 24 and take whats left.
However, if they only sign a backup QB, likely Maddux or Anthony Wright at this point, you could see them move up on D-day to get a tight end.

Wow, I love the idea of the Bengals drafting TE and signing a veteran like Adams or especially Arrington to help upgrade the D. Lavar would be the kind of presence they've been lacking at LB since Takeo Spikes left.

Hey, watch yourself. There is a new sherrif, and #51, in town at the middle spot. Odell had quite a year for a rookie, and if it was'nt for that "lights out" freak in San Diego he probably would have been defensive rookie of the year.
However, it would be nice to have Lavar on the out side.
By the way, Takeo who?

Re: Bengals #1 Draft Pick: Who Will It Be?

I just came across this information while searching for mock drafts...

http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/index.cfm?page=3

They have the Bengals taking Jesse Mahelona, a DT from Tennessee in the first round. I agree with this, and see the Bengals going with defense with the 24th pick.
