Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers

What happened to the Bengals? My Super Bowl pick out of the AFC has lost 4 of their last five, and the problems apparently go much deeper than that, according to the Associated Press.

Bengals fussing, fading at midseason - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

T.J. Houshmandzadeh flings his helmet. Carson Palmer openly berates a receiver. Chad Johnson grouses all over again about not getting enough passes thrown his way.

The Cincinnati Bengals seem to be falling apart.

A 26-20 loss in Baltimore on Sunday left the defending AFC North champions with a two-game deficit in their division, a break-even record and a list of personal grievances that grows with each loss.

...

Four losses in the last five games have brought out the worst in the Bengals. Players are openly second-guessing the play calls and their collective toughness, losing their cool during games and grousing afterward about how things have turned out.
Things don't look to get any better this Sunday, as Cincy hosts the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers are 6-2 on the season and, led by QB Phillip Rivers and RB LaDanian Tomlinson, average 370+ yards and 31 points per game. The Bengals defense allows 343.8 yards per game, 4th worst in the AFC. Do they have any chance of beating San Diego?

One can only hope...

I'm starting to lose my energy when i watch them now. I think the boys need a nice little Mini-camp or something to get themselves revved up about playing football. Something is going wrong....and i think most of it is morale. The city isn't even as peppy, and thats not good. I dont want a .500 or less season this year. We're suppose to be playoff bound!!

Re: Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers

The Bengals can't stop the run, and can't stop the pass rush...

The Chargers take advantage of both and win...the Bengals season continues to go down the toilet.

Even knowning all their problems, I still think the Bengals will win this game but if they don't ? Then I could only see one team from AFC N in the playoffs ... Cinn by 10

Cincy gets off to a HUGE start in this one, taking a 28-7 lead into the half. Carson Palmer threw for more than 280 yards and 2 TDs in the first half alone, and both Rudi and Jeremy Johnson had touchdown runs. What an unexpected offensive explosion from the Bengals... where has THIS team been all season?

Re: Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers

Those of you who missed this game missed a classic.

San Diego scored 42 -- yes, 42 -- second half points to come back and beat Cincinnati 49-41. Tomlinson tied a San Diego team record with four rushing touchdowns and Chad Johnson set a new Bengal record with 260 receiving yards. The two teams combined for nearly 1,000 yards of total offense, with nearly 750 of that being through the air. Palmer threw for 440 yards and Rivers had a 330+ yard day, and each QB threw for 3 TDs. What a game!
