The University of Cincinnati sits in a tie for third place in the Big East standings with three games to play. The good news for the Bearcats is this: Two of the teams they face, No. 16 Connecticut (8-1, 4-0 Big East) Saturday and No. 6 West Virginia (8-1, 3-1) Nov. 17, are ahead of them in the standings.
That means the Bearcats are still alive for a conference title and the Bowl Championship Series berth that comes with it.
Although the road to a conference crown won't be easy - UC (7-2, 2-2) would have to pull off two top-25 upsets - senior safety Haruki Nakamura can take solace in UC's 38-33 victory against South Florida last Saturday.
All the Bearcats need, he said, is to mimic their attitude from that game.
