Javier Vazquez's time in Chicago has come to an end.

On Thursday morning, the White Sox and Braves announced the six-player trade that will send Vazquez and left-handed reliever Boone Logan to Atlanta in exchange for infielder Brent Lillibridge, catcher Tyler Flowers, third baseman Jon Gilmore and left-handed pitcher Santos Rodriguez.

I'm honestly happy to see Vazquez go. Ozzie was right in that he can't pitch in big games- he proved that several times. And getting Gilmore and Flowers doesn't surprise me much- with Crede and Hall gone, we needed a back up catcher and another third baseman.

It's hard for me to put my finger on what they need but it's something. I was a little suprised they didn't go farther into the play-offs with the team they had.

I was absolutely happy to see vazquez go. He was an innings eater but, he wet his pants in the big game and will probably never get over his mental woes so he can finally live up to his potential.

Even a guy that can't come through in the clutch can be an asset. If he can hold 3 run leads than I would consider holding on to him. Just don't put him in when it's a pressure situation.

He was basically a 4-inning pitcher. From the 5th inning on he'd give up a ton of runs it seemed like. I think his problem was pitch selection......he wasn't mixing it up enough.

By struggling from the 5th inning on, it tells me that by the 3rd time through the opposing team's order, they were on to him. It's almost like they knew what was coming the third time through.

Either way, he was a headcase and he's the Atlanta Braves' headcase now. I'm thankful for that.

Goteamsgo Moderator Phils20 will tell you that at a game that him and I went to at Citizens Bank Park in 2007 (White Sox VS Phillies) Vazquez didn't pitch too well. As a matter of fact, he got outpitched by Adam freaking Eaton.

Yup him and I are buddies. Although we don't get to talk as much as we used to because we don't work at the same place anymore.

Who knows.....alot of questionmarks there as well.

The White Sox need pitching. I doubt Carlos Quentin will have the season he has last year too. They are currently rebuilding.
