Swish traded to the Yankees

Quote:
The New York Yankees announced today that they have acquired switch-hitting first baseman/outfielder Nick Swisher and right-handed pitcher Kanekoa Texeira from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for infielder Wilson Betemit and right-handed pitchers Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez.

Swisher, 27, batted .219 (109-for-497) with 86 runs, 21 doubles, 24 home runs and 69 RBI in 153 games with the White Sox in 2008, leading all American League switch-hitters in home runs and ranking second in RBI. He made 69 starts in center field, 47 starts at first base, 16 starts in left field and 11 starts in right field, combining for a .990 fielding percentage (7E, 675TC), including a .996 mark at first base (2E, 481TC).
White Sox trade Swish to Yankees

I will miss having Swish around. He is a great player defensively and can obviously play several positioins. I know he will do well on the Yankees.

Re: Swish traded to the Yankees

I wonder what the Yankees are going to do with him. He might be sitting with the Yankees.

Maybe. But since Giambi is a free agent, he might plapy first. He can play all three outfield positions, too, if it came down to that.

Re: Swish traded to the Yankees

Swisher is pretty good. Be nice at first base for the Yanks' now that Giambi is a Free Agent.

Re: Swish traded to the Yankees

Right, didn't think of that. I guess it would be nice to have Nick Swisher at 1st base. But I don't know if it will be a big improvement from Giambi. And if last season is any proof, the Yankees need to make changes.
