White Sox Sign Scott Linebrink

MLB.com reports reliever Scott Linebrink has agreed to a deal with the Chicago White Sox. The report cites ESPN 1000 in Chicago as saying Linebrink has agreed to a four-year, $19 million deal.

Linebrink has been criticized by fans for not being as good as he was a couple of years back. However, relievers can always bounce back and that's what Chicago is hoping for. Now they have what was one of the best relievers in the game some time ago. But four years...ouch. Linebrink is a Class-A free-agent...however Chicago's first pick is protected (top 15). So Milwaukee will get a 2nd round pick instead.

So San Diego will likely get a sandwich pick.
$19 mil is way to much to pay for Linebrink...you can get about 8 South American pitchers, and to Asian pitchers for that amount and find an equal in the mix.

Cool Re: White Sox Sign Scott Linebrink

The thing about middle relievers is that they're a year to year type deal. Just ask the Mets about Scott Schoenweiss. So I think that's too much money.
