White Sox Trade Garland for Orlando Cabrera

The Chicago White Sox have traded starting pitcher Jon Garland to the Los Angeles Angels for shortstop Orlando Cabrera and some cash.

This means Juan Uribe will have to change positions, with Cabrera taking over the reigns at short.

Cabrera is making over $9 million this year, the final year on his current contract.

Garland has been a consistent pitcher when it comes to making starts so that will be a tough void to fill.

Cool Re: White Sox Trade Garland for Orlando Cabrera

The Sox have been looking for a shortstop for a while. But to trade a quality pitcher like Garland, I'm not so sure about that.

They've been threatening to trade him and gut that pitching staff for a couple of years now, so I'm not entirely surprised. Don't quite get it myself, either. Pitching's still the most important element in my books, so I can't figure out why the White Sox continue to dump these guys.
