White Sox agreed to terms with shortstop Juan Uribe on a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
Uribe has posted sub-.300 OBPs the last two years and he's lost a step on defense because he's carrying some extra weight, but we'd still take him over Omar Vizquel for next season. $4.5 million is a nice compromise. He gets a $350,000 raise over what he made last season, and the White Sox save $500,000 from what they would have paid had they exercised their option. The team is likely to bring in another shortstop option in order to push Uribe. What they want is for him to show up at camp in great shape and prove that he deserves the job.

Who wrote that they'd take Uribe over Vizquel? Must be fantasy related, because if you consider defense, then it's gotta be Vizquel hands down.
