Cool White Sox Staff Completes Task

. After falling in the opener, the White Sox' Mark Buehrle, Jon Garland, Freddy Garcia and Jose Contreras became the first staff in 77 years to toss four straight complete-game victories.

Not bad in this day and age of relief pitchers...77 years!...that' a lot of staffs that have come and gone including the Mets staff of the 70's, the Braves of the 90's etc...

Wow... that's amazing. Can't believe its been so long. But then, will the pitch counts, middle relievers, holds... it's a bullpen game anymore. You just don't see starters toss all nine much anymore. That's one thing I really like about the White Sox -- they are definitely a throwback!

Didn't he Sox of the 70's have a 4 man rotation (maybe 3 at times?)...I remember Wilbur Wood tossing 377 innings one year...in the 90's though Thigpen gobbled up saves...

Wood had four consecutive 20-win, 300-plus innings in the early 70s.

Was their any doubt? They are the World Champs! It figures 4 us Yankee fans that Contreras became a pitcher when he got to Chi-Town! Lets not forget the lethal Bobby Jenks closing out games in their pen.
