Jim Thome's hot start

The new White Sox DH is 9-for-26 (.346) with 2 doubles, 5 home runs, 8 walks, 8 RBI and 9 runs scored in his first 8 games this season. His slugging percentage is 1.000 and his OPS is an insane 1.514 - twice what it was in 2005. Certainly there has to be some drop off, but if he stays healthy, you think he can stay close to this effective all season?

Cool Re: Jim Thome's hot start

Big Caveat with Thome: "If he stays healthy" He rarely ever does.

Re: Jim Thome's hot start

True, but I think if he doesn't play another game this year, I think he's already been more productive than their DH platoon last season! I exaggerate, of course, but he homered for the fourth straight game yesterday as the ChiSox swept the Tigers. He was 2-for-3 and also had a pair of walks and drove in two runs.

I'll still stick with D.Ortiz for this season

Re: Jim Thome's hot start

Thome hit his seventh homer of the season yesterday, equalling his total from all of last season. Kudos to anyone who had the foresight to snag him in the mid to late rounds of their fantasy drafts! He's been awesome this year.
