Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams says he won't dump proven players for prospects, moves that could touch off a one or two year rebuilding process.
Instead, Williams may make moves for the short term, like the one rumored to be Jermaine Dye and Juan Uribe to the San Diego Padres for shortstop Khalil Greene and relief pitcher Scott Linebrink. Or maybe Williams unloads fading pitcher Jose Contreras for a promising rookie outfielder like the Los Angeles Dodgers' Matt Kemp or the Philadelphia Phillies' Michael Bourn. |
Sox to seek major league returns for Dye, Contreras - Rumors - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Linebrink is a good pitcher, but Dye seems like a lot to give up for Greene and him...but then again, if they're not going to re-sign Dye, I guess you get back what you can.
