Frank Thomas an Idiot Check out this article regarding the comments by White Sox GM Kenny Williams... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060226/...e_sox_williams

Blah I think they both need to grow up. Maybe Frank Thomas is right, but he needs to stop whining; nobody really cares. Williams is foolish for drawing attention to him...if he'd kept quiet, this would have faded out more quickly. But hey, things like this keep the reporters busy, eh?

| unintentional comedy When i first saw this item headlined ChiSox GM Williams Rips 'Idiot' Thomas on espn.com, i got pumped. Finally, someone was telling the truth about an self-centered self-serving who only hurts his team in every way possible. And then i read the piece. It was about baseball. Damn. I thought it was Herb Williams about Isiah Thomas. Nevertheless, the piece (and quotes) was high on what The Sports Guy likes to call "the unintentional comedy scale." "An idiot," said GM Williams, slapping on one of the deadliest playground insults since Reagan called Khadifi "flaky." Williams went on to say, "neener neener neener." Meanwhile, Thomas played the apple polisher: "I've got a lot of respect for Jerry Reinsdorf, I do." Wait. This is the Bulls' Jerry Reinsdorf, right? Mostly ignoring grammar, Thomas went on to say, "But I really thought, the relationship we had over the last 16 years, he would have picked up the phone to say, 'Big guy, we're moving forward.'" O, for Luis Aparicio's sake. Does Thomas really refer to himself as "Big Guy"? Imagine: "Hey, the Big Guy's not happy with his contract...the Big Guy wants a donut..." GM Williams went on to say that "[The Big Guy had] better stay out of our business. He [had] better stay out of White Sox business." Does he mean the baseball business? What does he think, the Big Guy's going to write Reinsdorf a check? On second thought... Then espn went to Ozzie Guillen for little reason other than it's cool to have a guy named Ozzie appear in your column. Ozzy G. kicked in a long long no-comment beginning with "I won't put my nose in something above me." Good idea, Ozzie. Not only is it physically challenging, it would look pretty silly. O, and espn's side comment that The Big Guy as "The greatest hitter in White Sox history" was nearly as humorous as it was demonstrative of espn's total ignorance of history beyond what they modestly call the "ESPN Era." Two words, guys: Shoeless. Joe. God, i love baseball...

Re: Frank Thomas an Idiot Frank Thomas was one of my favorite players in the mid-90s (right behind Cal Ripken and Robbie Alomar), mainly because we share the same birth date. In any event, he surely has fallen in recent years albeit to injury and perhaps other circumstances. Hopefully he can rejuvanate his career in Oakland (they need offense) and get to the 500 HR mark...he'd be an instant HOFer in my book.

Re: Frank Thomas an Idiot That was a great game! He exploded that game to get back at his former collegues. He probably also wanted revenge against their GM who mouthed-off about him the second he was let go. That incredible performance definitely boosted Frank Thomas' fantasy value. Do you think this is a good time to pick him up, or should I forget about him?

Re: Frank Thomas an Idiot He was an idol. I think most Chicago White Sox fans got turned away when he started to end up on the DL on a regular basis. He still has an average of 37 homeruns and 121 RBIs if he were to play 162 games. Of course, those statistics do not include this year. For another example, look at Mike Piazza. Here in New York you never hear his name anymore. We just ignore him like he did something wrong. Our memories of him as Met slowly fade away. . .
