I like Guillen, but he's lucky his starters held up. I seem to remember a certain Red Sox manager who pulled the same thing, only with less favorable results. I believe they wound up running him out of town. Of course, they did win the Series the following year, so I guess all's well that ends well. Anyway, back to Guillen. Love his managerial style. In your face, relies on instincts, a real take risks kind of a guy - definitely a nice change of pace for those of us sick of hearing about sabremetrics, pitch counts and how the hold should be a legitimate stat.

Guillen is a great managr who focuses on team baseball. Hhe may have not had the best talent in the world, but the worked as one unit. He coaches theway he played; my maximizing the talent he has. he does a great job, adn he will have a job in baseball for as long as he wants.

Not so fast Before we declare Ozzie a genius, let's see how he follows up his big year. I seem to remember that the Diamondback's Bob Bbrenly was being hailed as a genius after he beat the Yankees in 2001. He is out of baseball now. A big mouth is not necessarily an asset these days.because before long, something will come out of it that he will be crucified for in this politically correct world. He is a breath of fresh air, much like the old time managers were, when they didn't worry about what they said. Pitch counts were invented to give managers a crutch that they could lean on when they pulled a guy too soon with bad results.

Well, I don't think anybody's putting him in the Hall of Fame yet, legend. But based on the moves he made last season, and judging from what kind a grasp of the game he has, I'd put him top 3 amongst today's managers. Granted, rankings such as these are fluid, always changing. Maybe I'm a little biased though because he seems like such a throwback, but that's the way I see it.

respect granted Ozzie is not only perfect for the White Sox because he is a local favorite but he knows his baseball. Not only does he know his baseball but he doesn't let everybody know it either. He keeps to himself and lets his actions on the field do the talking. Even though I can't understand a word he says when he answers reporter's questions, I can understand a World Series ring just fine. Respect granted.
