Our bullpen has been decent so far, this year, Marmol has been lockdown, so has Aaron Heilman. That should shut down in the 7th and 8th innings, now that said what about with Kevin Gregg who I was incredibly high on coming into the season, but after three less than great outings I'm getting woried.

Here I have stats: 0-1, 13.50 era 1 save, 1 blown save

In that one save he gave up a run and allowed the tying run to get to the plate. In his second appreanace he gave up the run that gave the Astros the win, but Neal Cotts got the lost, than today he single handly choked away a hard fought win over the Brewers.


I don't think this is the year for the Cubs, but for it to be KG needs to step it or up or we need to find a new closer.

Either we go get George Sherill who will get traded from the O's when Chris Ray comes back or we just put Marmol there. But hey maybe KG turns it around

Ok here's the deal. I have thought long and hard about this issue with Gregg. The fact is that he has blown three games already as the previous poster just stated. And in my opinion if Marmol was on the mound, ESPECIALLY IN THAT FARGIN' GAME AGAINST THE BREWS, we would have chalked up a W. However, I think we need to consider a few things. Number 1: Lou. Lou is the man that has Gregg there. There is a reason for this. I have not seen a better Cubs team, ever, not even in '84. This team is solid, not only offensively but defensively. There is power, speed, and production. Number 2: The closing job, in my opinion, is mind over matter. In other words, its not necessarily that you have the ability to get guys out, most pitchers can do that. This job is more about being able to get it done when the pressure is on big time. The ability to hack it comes from either experience or just a inbred talent. Gregg has the experience, given Marmol is no slouch and could handle it, but maybe Lou sees something that we don't see. He has done such a great job with this team that I am not gonna treat this the way I have treated all the other Cub coaching blunders in the past 20 + years. I am going to have faith that this really is the right move. God help me.

Lol, Marmol closed tonight because of Gregg's extend outing last night and took care of buissness pretty easily, gave up one hit, a single that got between Ramirez and Ryan Theriot, now let's just hope he closes again tomorrow night
