| Buck O'Neil becomes oldest pro player At 94 years of age, Buck O'Neil, former Negro League great and the first African-American coach in Major League Baseball history (with the Chicago Cubs) became the oldest professional baseball player in history yesterday. He signed a one-day contract to play for the Kansas City T-Bones. He was intentionally walked, but the good news it, having played a game he now has renewed elgibility for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
