The Cubs moved a day early Sunday to move Daryle Ward to the disabled list and recall lefthanded hitting Micah Hoffpauir from Class AAA Iowa.

"We weren't sure if Ward would be available today because he wasn’t available yesterday," manager Lou Piniella said of Ward, who is suffering from a bulging back disc. The team had planned to recall Huffpauir Monday when it begins a three-game series in Houston against the Astros.

I have always liked Hoffpauir and hope that he plays well with his chance in Chicago. Sounds like Ward will be right back after his 15 days, hopefully he finds his stroke in that time, because he has been pretty bad most of the year.
