Cubs vs. Marlins Next up for the Cubbies is a three game series versus the Marlins in Florida. The Marlins are a god-awful 11-31 and almost 15 games behind the Mets in the East. Starting pitchers are Marshall for the Cubs who has a 4.26 era and Ricky Nolasco for the Marlins who has a 3.43 era but hasn't pitched as much. I see a sweep in the Cubs near future.

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins The Marlins are just a horrible organization right now. I admit that they were one of the best ball-clubs but they got rid of thier franchise players. Most importantly they let go of Carlos Delgado to their division rivals, the Mets, so that they could be pushed out of their division when Delgado goes long 40+ times. I thought that was just a dumb move, just like how they swept out their roster! Update: Delgado has 15 homers (on pace for 60)

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins Gotham I know what you are saying but even losers have aspirations...You gotta have heart bud. The Cubs could not hold the Marlins unstoppable offense and gave up an embarrassing nine runs and only scored one. Marshall gave up seven runs to the Marlins in only three innings. I think that might be the most runs the Marlins have scored all year. Anybody willing to look up the stats on that? Next up for the Cubbies is Wood versus Olsen. Wood is coming off of a pretty bad first start. Olsen is 2-3 with a 6.55 era. This should make for an interesting match up.

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins I looked through thousands of websites looking for the proper statistics. I have found the correct records and I am willing to share them with you. I just so happens that the Florida Marlins scored their most runs (12) on Tuesday, the 12th of April 2006. They ended up with a 12-6 win over the Cincinnatti Reds which gave them a 4-9 record to start off the season.

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins In the second game of the series, the Cubs lost by a score of 5-4. Everything was looking fine and dandy and then Dempster blew a save by giving up two runs in the ninth. So the Cubs lose two in a row to the Marlins. Good grief. Wood pitched five innings in which he threw 86 pitches. After using up the bullpen, Dempster comes in and throws a win in the garbage. GRRRR!.... Today the ball goes to Maddux for the Cubs who in his nine starts has a 3.76 era. For the Marlins its the 1-4 Moehler who has a 7.29 era. I'm thinking Maddux in this match-up.

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins Definitely! Maddux is a potential Cy Young Candidate at this point in the season. His ERA may be a little high but he has plenty of wins to cover that up. For the Cubs, the offense and the pitching must work equally as hard to achieve a win.

Re: Cubs vs. Marlins The Cubs lost by a score of 9-3 yesterday and made complete fools of themeselves by getting swept by the Marlins. It's their third loss in a row and I am not sure how it can get much worse. Maddux gave up a whopping six runs in six innings on eight hits. The bullpen didn't do much better. This is truly sad.
