Cubs vs Nationals The Cubs start a three game series with the Nationals today. The ball goes to Carlos Zambrano who is only 1-2 with a 3.88 era. For the Nationals its Livan Hernandez who is 1-4 and an astronomical era of 6.52. It'll be interesting to see how these two above average pitchers with below average teams square off. (I guess I'm referring to the OLD Livan Hernandez).

Re: Cubs vs Nationals Livan Hernandez isn't having a great season this year. He reminds me of Dontrelle Willis who is also struggling early in this season. He is destroying my fantasy team because I am trying to trade him but nobody wants him. Back to the Cubs, Carlos Zambrano is a great pitcher who is not afraid to throw 99-MPH and his magnificent slider. He hasn't done that well this season considering he is only 1-2 in 8 starts on the mound. But the good news is that he is 1-0 and has achieved an low-ERA of 0.60 in his last 15 IP. Lets see what he can do tonight.

Re: Cubs vs Nationals Well at least the Cubs can beat the Nationals with their ace pitcher. The Cubs who are now 16-22 won 4-0. It was a textbook game. Zambrano went eight scoreless innings with only four hits and eight strike outs. Dempster the closer then came in for the save. WOO CUBS!!! Today its Marshall for the Cubs who is 2-1 with a 4.93 era vs Zach Day, who hasn't pitched much, but has a 2.37 era. Lets make it two in a row.

Re: Cubs vs Nationals It is funny your bring up Ryan Dempster. In the latest of issue of Sports Illustrated they interview Greg Maddux and ask him, "What is the worst thing that smells in the locker-room?" He replied, "Dempster's backside". I just thought that you would find these words of wisdom insightful to your daily routine.

Re: Cubs vs Nationals Chalk up another win for the Cubs, their second in a row. In the Cubs 5-0 win over the Nationals, Marshall had six scoreless innings giving up only one hit, striking out four and walking six. The RBI's went to Walker and Cedeno. Next up for the Cubbies, the last game of the Nationals series. The ball is going to (and I never thought I would be saying this so soon) Kerry Wood. His opponent is Ortiz who is winless and has a dismal 6.30 era.

Re: Cubs vs Nationals Unfortunately Kerry Wood could only last five innings yesterday, giving up four runs yet striking out six. The Cubs rocked Ortiz in the sixth for three but it wasn't enough to pull out the win. As they say two out of three aint bad. Next up for the beloved Cubbies are their hometown rivals the White Sox. The ball for the Cubs goes to Greg, hall of famer, Maddux. And for the White Sox, on the mound will be Buehrle who is 4-2 with a 3.42 era. I guess Buehrle is supposed to be their ace. Anybody know for sure who the number one starter for the Sox is?

Re: Cubs vs Nationals Buehrle is known for his quick games. He could finish a game in an hour and a half if he wanted to. Kerry Wood was coming off the DL from in injury. He will eventually settle down and pitch decent games. He just has to become comfortable on the mound. I would give him a little time before we start thinking that he will get 10+ wins this season.
