MESA, Ariz. — The Cubs have signed former White Sox infielder Alex Cintron to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to club officials, with an official announcement expected later today.
Cintron, 29, is a career .277 hitter who hit .243 in 68 games for the White Sox last season. The switch-hitter has spent most of his 535 career games at shortstop, including a full season as the Arizona Diamondbacks starter in 2004.
